William W. Armstrong of the 25th Pennsylvania Infantry, May 1861.

He served in the cavalry in several battles, before being commissioned as a captain in the 65th and then 92nd U.S. Colored Infantry. Though the war ended in 1865, William continued to serve in the army until 1870. He died on February 18, 1915 in Washington, D.C.
